Course Outline

Module 1: Electricity

This module covers all phases of electricity as it applies to the HVAC industry. AC & DC circuits, schematic reading, electrical circuit tracing, relays, transformers, motors, thermostats, switches, gas valves, and troubleshooting for these parts will be explained.


Module 2: Heating

This module covers all phases of heating as fueled by gas. Forced air systems are explained in depth. Products include standing pilot, high efficiency furnaces, and condensing furnaces. All necessary tools for this module will be explained.

Module 3: Basic Air Conditioning

In this module students will receive an introduction to the theory and operation of residential air conditioning. Electrical circuits will be explained in full detail. Recovery, charging, vacuum pumps, superheat, and troubleshooting will be covered.

Module 4: Advanced Air Conditioning

This module will prepare students for the EPA section 608 exam (refrigeration license) and the R-410A Safety Certification Exam. The instructor will review all material needed to receive their EPA Universal License and an R-410A Safety Certification License. Sections of the EPA test include: Core, Type I, Type II, and Type III. The R-410A Safety Certification Exam is comprised of 50 questions, all are multiple choice.

Module 5: Ventilation and Installation

This module covers ventilation as it pertains to the HVAC industry. Duct sizing and fabrication requirements are covered. Installation procedures will also be covered such as: brazing, soldering, pipe threading and duct work installation. A detailed explanation of specific tools and how to use them will also be given.


Module 6: Hydronics

This module will cover both hot water and steam heating systems. Controls, proper piping, sizing, and troubleshooting will be covered in depth.

Our hands-on training prepares students with the technical knowledge and skill set necessary for servicing, repairing, and maintaining ventilation, heating and air conditioning equipment. Students gain a thorough understanding of the complex inner workings of each HVAC unit. They also learn the proper care and use of repair tools and industry safety practices.
